I hope you are having a summer that makes you feel FINE!
For me summer suggests a time for rest, vacation, and renewal. That expectation comes from my childhood and then from arranging life around the school schedule of my kids for so many years. I love the summer months – probably due to those notions of rest, vacation, and renewal.
In the spirit of summer and personal renewal, last weekend I spent 3 days at Wanderlust, a yoga festival at Squaw Valley, near Lake Tahoe. It was a wonderful time for me to both stretch and relax. I tried some new yoga classes (aireal yoga and yoga nidra), hung out with 10,000 people who were also there – and more intimately with a group of friends, and came closer to my summer goal for personal renewal.
For me reset involves getting out of my head; I routinely spend too much time there. What I need to do is become more balanced between body/mind/soul. In that regard I challenged my body at the yoga festival. Check out the photo – yes that’s me! This pose was truly a challenge and a group project (I needed a strong base, a strong spotter – and a bunch of inner courage!).
The soul work has been ongoing. I’ve spent a lifetime connecting to my soul and it had always been a fulfilling endeavor for me. But recent years left me disconnected in the soul/spirit realm. The connecting points that used to work for me stopped working. I needed something new. I tried this and that and the other. Nothing fulfilled me. I kept at it. I sought guidance. I tried again and again. Finally, this summer, things are warming up there again. My balance between mind, body, and soul is back! And it feels so good, so right, and so powerful.
I talk to a lot of women and a lot of girls. I know that for many, there is a disconnect between these realms. We are led by advertisers, critics, and even our inner dialog, so often, to disconnect from our very selves. We learn to dislike parts of our body. We disregard our own inner lives of intuition and wisdom. We repeat messages in our minds that keep us stuck in a place of unhappiness or overwhelm.
The answer? Better balance between mind – body – and soul.
How to get there? Stay tuned. I have some ideas to share.
How about you?
How balanced are you between mind/body/spirit?
Which area do you spend most of your time in?
Most women I talk to spend too much time in the mind realm – thinking things through over and over again, doubting themselves, or planning every moment so as to schedule in life satisfaction. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work out so well!
Lots of women expend a good deal of effort in the realm of body: Yes, we tweeze, shave, wax, exfoliate, moisturize, diet, color, wash, blow dry, curl (and straighten!), makeup, spray, dress, accessorize, and more. So many then look in the mirror with disappointment. Body love is lacking for the majority.
Many women have lost touch with the soul aspect of their very being. Those women are either disgruntled with the religious tradition they inherited or have never really had guidance in the realm of spirit/soul connection. I find most women feel parched in this arena. They thirst for something more.
As stated above, I have ideas on how to help you balance these three realms: mind, body, and soul.
I’ve been working on this balance in a dedicated manner for 15 years and I’m about to share my results.
Next week I will unveil a course that I’d love for you to join. The outcome for you will involve:
- Increased energy
- Increased happiness and life satisfaction
- A tribe of women who will walk with you as you seek to become the most powerful and vibrant form of you!
- Renewed direction for your life (you have a lot of life in front of you – make the most of it!)
Until next time – be well:
- Listen to your heart
- Love your body
- Be gentle when you talk to yourself!
Blessings of love and goodness,
